Got my front shocks mounted
I got my front extended shock mounts installed yesterday along with my Rancho RS9000X's installed. Will have to wait to the rear shocks until I can drive to a friend to have him weld them on.
Also got my brakes bleed yesterday and took my first test drive Still away to go before road ready, but I'm getting there.

are those shock towers from a ford? how much bigger of a shock can you run with it?

Yes, those are the Ford shock towers. The length of shock will depend on if you have a body lift and if you use your inner fenderwell or cut the inner fenderwell. I went with a little longer shock so if I go with more lift later the shocks will still be useable. These shocks are 36" fully extended and like 21" fully collapsed for about 14" of travel. As mounted the front shocks could compress about 6" which is definitely more than my springs will allow. Got tons more droop than I will ever use also.

Yukon,
what brand shocks are they? I just bought a set From Tuff Country and they mounted in the opposite way. Are you sure the cylinder mounts at the top? 72longbed |

These are Rancho RS9000X's. Their tech department verfied this shock can be ran in either position but it would be better to have them with the cylinder down. I want them in this position as it places the adjustor where it is protected and easier to get to.

I still need to mount the oil cooler, install the grill + side markers, install the door guts and weather stripping, adjust the passenger door as it is rubbing a little, get the steering column back from the painter, get it mounted and modified due to the body lift and then she should pretty much be ready to go. A trip to get exhaust done is also in order once it is roadworthy.
