Hey Rod, I bought a set of these a while back, from someone on the
board, and they will NOT fit on my 72 K5, not trying to slam ur post, but you'll have to put holes in for them to work like you said above

I'll go compare some tomorrow on my 70 GMC 4x4 and see what I see.
I was assuming you would have to drill holes in the frames...my 70 GMC 4x4 dosen't even have holes. Most trucks I look at don't have the holes pre-drilled. But I'll give it a look..I never compared then yet as to hole pattern and look..maybe I'll clamp them underneath and show people the possible difference. |

Not trying to stir anything up, but i held a set of 67-68 style under my 70 4x4 1/2 ton and they didn't clear the bumper and spring hanger. However, i have bought stuff from rod and he is a stand up guy.

Just my .02, Don't the 67-68 style mount backwards, the opening facing forward. I tried this on my blazer and these(67-68) have such a large curve the front bumper and/or the front of the spring gets in the way. I was using the original holes in the frame for this! That is why I think original 67-68 hooks mount backwards.
Anyways, These are towhooks and almost everybody wants them! I think they would look neat mounted backwards as rear towhooks. Take 'er easy Rod! Matthew

I`m confused myself.Fifteen years ago I bought tow hooks from another National Chevy/GMC Truck Association member. He took them off his`72 Blazer when new to install a brushguard.I recently bought hooks from a board member here. They`re longer and bolted right up to my`72.So,apparently,the other hooks I have aren`t`72 afterall. They don`t appear to fit as mentioned by others here.Is it just different holes?I can`t see why they wouldn`t fit 67-72,otherwise.

It looks like the 67-68 hooks would have to mount opening facing forward as mkmiller1 posted on a 4x4. I put them up on my 70 GMC 4x4 and like too much stuff said..they have interferece with the 4x4 spring hangers if you face them closed end forward..open end forward wouldnt be a problem. On a 2wd I dont think there would be any concerns either way they mounted.
