hello my name is 70blowngmc and im a addict

i eat mustangs and cougars and and all birds
i just bought a 70 gmc truck last year for 4500 with a 350 3 spd posi rear end
it has a radical cam in it and a edel 600 carb hedmans headers / so about 2 months ago i put it my brother in law (x wife thank god ) shop and started to remove the 350 and transmission so i found a 350 4 bolt main for 100 bucks standard bore so i was happy that it wasnt bore out had it taken to machine shop for cleaning and fluxing for cracks all ok then i called around for price on machining after the first place told me about 1700 for all machine work then i remember that this one place so i call and he gave me 1000 with assy of the short block ,i couldnt pass that up at all (thanks paul ) so i now i got to find the parts and heads for what i want to build at this time im starting to druel
got out some old hot rod mags. and check online for stuff then i found a web called craiglist and found that there was alot of people selling cars and parts
so i see a ad for sbc heads edelbrock alum. for 700 pr. so i check around and see that they run around 500 ea so i called the dude and he said he had them on for 2k miles we agreed to meet half way point from each other
so i did a map search of where is halfway --hmmm san quentin yep san quentin prison was the halfway point so we meet outside of the gate area
i figure its got to be the safest place to do a transaction so the heads were
nice shape not crack by eye everything look fresh and clean he had a 2 pieace timing cover edelbrocks and a alum. jegs water pump he wanted anthor 100 i said sorry i didnt bring extra cash so he threw that in the deal too didnt want to deal with it anymore so i got a great deal then i found a ad in hot rod about this engine kit online so i look up there web page and found a great deal on rotorary assy. heads crank cams etc (enginekits.com)-cont.>

see i told ya im addict -blah blah blah

so i bought the steel crank and a few other parts timing chain oil pump etc
then i saw a ad craiglist for a blower for sale so i called and the dude said he had one for sale 1500 i drive over to vallejo and check it out its 6 -71 wieand blower polished with 2 750 edelbrock carbs he had on his boat for one pass and didnt like the way it holeshot so he removed and went back to twin turbos so i didnt sqabble about the price knowing that these go for 3k then he gave me brand new crane cam lifters all the gaskets throttle linkage fuel pump and gauge, belt tensinor and belt (wow what a deal ) then he gave me a list of all the parts i need to order piston rods bearings etc so i get back and call this guy in wisconsisn (cheese state) and order the parts on the list
keith black piston dish 179 set -manley rods with bearing 396 i was stoked
so i got the head in the shop too clean and deck and change the springs and seals so headed 250 to the 1000 i figure im still ahead of the other shop prices so im right now putting the engine together heads are on and the blower is next to be installed next week (i'll try to get some pics.)
i got a 4 spd tranny being built right now too all new parts 1100 bucks for that im looking for a x member for it too then once i get that back i'll measure the driveline to be made up
whoa i like this web site its cool as hell
catch ya later

Welcome from back east.Sorry to hear you are addicted`cause once hooked, there`s no rehab.I could shoot those enabling "pushers" for roping you in just to put a little money in their pockets.Don`t dispare,we are here for you.If you get the shakes and you can`t hold a wrench, just head to the computer for a synthetic fix to get you through.
