whats a 'highlander?'

I have seen a few folks say they have the K5 'highlander'.

what differentiated the highlander package? and what years was it available?

throw in any more 'useless' trivia you got on it as well!

thanks...

All I know is it's rare! Never seen one. If there is one on the board, please, please, please, post some pics.

The highlander option was a 1972 only option. My pick up has the option. The easiest way to tell is the seats. The seat insert is plad...

Mine has it. They were loaded with all the chayne trim options plus
plaid inserts in the seats made of a cloth fabric that dosen't feel hot
in the summer or cold in the winter. I have heard there are 4 color
combos orange, green, gray and the blue like mine. They had
black and off white mixed with the main color in the plaid on off white
seats (parchament).

I have looked. for several yesrs, for replacement cloth but none was found.
So i cleaned the old inserts with 15%/85% simple green & water then reused
them with new boat vinyl when the upholestry shop recovered the seats.

Click on the link in my sig. and there are some pics.

On trucks it was on CustomDeluxes.Didn`t have the carpet, headliner, woodgrain instrument bezel,or tailgate band.It did have the woodgrain belt moulding. It was probably the first of special options group discounting on trucks. There is no name badge on these sating "Highlander".The first truck I had in`73 was an Ochre one. They`re usually 2-tone,but not all. That one wasn`t.
