Thanks frank, that helps alot, but i was wondering, if i get a newer cluster from a 79, and i get a circuit board for my year of truck, would i have to change the wiring at all? would the gauges still work other than the oil pres?

According to what I know about this subject, putting a volt gauge pack (79) into a amp gauge truck (76) will result in a meltdown.

I think that if you had a '78 or later tach cluster you could swap in your current mechanical oil gauge and stick in a '76-'77 circuit board in it, and it would work. It might require some modification to the cluster housing, but I think it could be done.
