This is probably a long shot, but I came across a truck that sounds pretty nice, and I wanted to see if anyone in the area might be able to stop off and check it out for me. I was debating having the truck shipped, but shipping will be $900, and the gas to drive there and back will be $200 (including driving the truck on permium @10mpg) but I would rather only make that drive knowing that what I am looking for is at the end of the trip.
If you live in or around that area and will have time to check out a truck, PM or email me.....and if anyone is planning on making a trip from that area in WI to anywhere near Michigan....possibly with a trailer....also feel free to PM me

70 model 3/4 ton Chevy 4X4 longbed

So he told ya it was rust free?

Bed floor gone, and plate steel welded in.
Bed has rust above the wheel wells.
tailgate not too bad.
Cab corners are bondo.
rocker panels installed years ago.
cab supports (all 4) are almost totally rusted away.
cab floor has sheet metal rivited to cover the holes
doors have rust (but no speaker holes!).
outer fenders are rusted.
inner fenders are rusted.
misc dents and dings.
rear frame rail rusted

1987 or newer 350 engine (notice the valve cover hold downs)
I think it might be a vortec engine with aftermarket carb/intake.
has manual choke.
starts and runs good. no smoke, no abnormal noise.
Shifts fine, goes in to 4X4 fine (didn't drive it).
has leaks from TC, tranny, engine.
New u-joints
SM 465 4 speed tranny
NP-205 T-case

Truck has 6 lug axels with front disc brakes and 1/2 ton suspension. A 3/4 ton should have 8 lug axels. This truck has a 12 bolt rear end and a D44 front with open knuckle.

New 33" mud tires.

Dash hacked to install aftermarket radio

He said he will drop the price to $1450. He needs the cash to start college this fall. He said only 5 other people have looked at it.

Manitowoc has a car ferry that goes across Lake Michigan. He is 3 miles from the lake and ferry.

anyone got any opinions of this rig? Really don't have an area at the moment to do any work on a vehicle, and something tells me that I am looking at a decent amount of work here.
yes, I was told the vehicle had "no rust" then I was told that there was a little surface rust on the bottom of the bed....and that was it.....

It would be cheaper to find another cab, than to fix the one on the truck. I'd say it's a $800 truck, but I'm not real knowledged in what these go for up here.

Maybe instead of rust free, he meant the rust WAS free (no extra charge for the 'seasoned' look).

Not a bad truck, but would require work if you're looking to drive a 'nice' truck. In my experience, once you tear into fixing it, you'll find more rust than you originally thought. In MN, that would probably bring about 1000 (for the vortec and 4wd alone).

Unless my eyes are bad, that appears to be a 12 bolt rear. Also being 6 lug, it's a 1/2 ton. It looks like a LOT of work if you want a really nice truck to drive. Replacing cab floors and floor supports involves a TON of work by itself, not to mention all the other work that would be needed to make the truck astectically pleasing. If it were me, I wouls pass, but that's just my humble opinion.

dtlilly, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to take the pics. I only wish the pics had of revealed what I heard on the phone, was correct. I am not looking for a beauty queen by any means, but I already have a project that I have no time to complete, I need a truck that can function as a truck, and provide enjoyment during the down time.
If anyone out there is looking for what is likely a 1/2 ton 4wd....unless it was at one point converted to a 1/2 from 3/4......give me a PM and I will forward the information on this truck.
