I paid 800$ us for mine. Not sure about the exchange rate though. Is this a reputable shop? How are they building the tranny? Stock?

Sounds good. And I am not trying to jinx this here but since it happened to me and would not wish this on anyone. Make sure they use the correct size check balls in the tranny. I spent 2 months and 3 tranny shops trying to find out why my 400 wouldnt kick down and go back into 3rd.
Have fun get it done and enjoy the ride!!!

I live in Canada, and I paid 800. And my Buddy did it for me on the side.

Where abouts are you? A friend of a friend offered to do a TH400 for me including Torque converter for $500Can. He works for a tranny shop and does them on the side. BTW He hasn't done one for me but only because I don't have the cash right now. I wouldn't expect a warranty though.

They’re really not hard to rebuild. I haven’t done one since about 1997 but the kit was around $40 without the converter. I don’t know how much it would be now.
