Please help w/ motor size

I have a v8 in a 69-70 GMC 1/2 ton I'm parting and I need help trying to decide what it is. The #'s on the block aren't listed in the book I have. The # on the back of the block is: 10066038 and on the front of the block by the head it is: MAI 9353. The glove box door list it as a 296 v8 which I've never heard of. Thank's in advance, Jason

My best guess is that it's a mis-print on the decal, and the engine is actually a 396 big block.

Here's what I dug up from my info on the casting number from the block....10066038...350.....92....4...Goodwrench crate motor, 2-piece rear seal, "Hecho en Mexico"

Looks like the motor probably was swapped out at some point in it's life.

Thank's for your help guy's. I really appreciate it. Do you know if them are good. I seem to remember hearing something about problems with the GM motors from mexico. But I don't know if it was just certian years. Also would it be a four bolt main block? Thank's again Jason

Talking

Mortec lists the engine as having 4 bolt mains.

The Mexican engines were called "Targetmasters". They were built with some heavy-duty parts and put together quite well. You shouldn't have any problems with that engine.
