Questions on putting a 2wd body on a 4x4 chassis
so i bought a 67 c10 and a 71 k10. the 67 has an excellent body with no rust while the 71 has a beat up body. so im swapping bodies. I have heard that there is a larger hump in a 4x4 cab....so if i'm putting a 2wd cab on a a 4x4 chassis will i need to get a body lift?
if i get a 2" body lift...then will the front and rear bumper still be 2" lower? if so how do i fix this or do i even need to fix this? are there any other problems that i'm going to run into that i need a headsup on?

The hump in the cab unbolts....so you could replace it with the hump out of your 4x4.
BTW Welcome to the board....this is great place!! Last edited by 402Bowtie; 06-15-2005 at 10:59 PM. |

The hump in the 4X4 unbolts. You make a pattern and cut out the 2wd tunnel so you can bolt the high hump in. I'd put the 67 body on the 71 frame so you already have front disc brakes. That should be a nice truck when done, we sure need pics!

Check this...if both cabs have an uboltable interface you are home free. No lift needed. The small hump is formed like a car...you could spot the difference immediately. Good luck on this swap Jman, I've done a couple three of these. You will need to use the 4x4 speedo cable and hopefully the 71 has disc brakes. You'll have to post more information about the transmission configuration and what the end config will be to get things together...

Welcome to this site.If your `67 is a 3spd or automatic and you need to buy a high tunnel,Teeitup is selling them in the parts section, now.I don`t think a body-lift is a good way to go,IMO.The bumpers won`t line up with the body and you`ll have a rigid mount.Modifying the floor is the "factory-like" way to go.Let`s see pictures if you can, both trucks. Is the`67 a small wimdow? Most were.Is the`71 cab banged-up?If not,you could retain just the cab, keep the original VIN-plate,and have the high tunnel.

Yeah, to state the obvious, once you resolve the hump controversy, no need for a body lift that would just complicate matters. Replace the body bushings during the swap to get good leveling of the body on the frame.

if it is an auto or three speed the low hump is fine, you only need to cut a hole for the t-case shifter( obviously ). the only reason for the high hump is if you have a top loader 4 speed....when i built mine i used a 2wd cab and changed the hump, and then when i got it together w/my 3 speed i realized i didn't have to ... good luck lets see pic's...welcome, John
