Hesitation
I have a 250 (6) and when I leave from a stop sign there is a slight hesitation then it goes. I have replaced the plugs, fuel filter and points and had the carb rebuilt any thing else I should look at?

You said that you replaced the points, did you get the gap and set the dwell properly, how abot checking the timing?? Just my .02

See if your accelerator pump in adjustable. Should be. Play with adjusting that a bit.

Also check the vacumm advance, the diaphram may be shot. Another thing to check is the play in the distributor shaft /bushings.

I had a 250 for a couple of years that had a bad stumble like yours. I tried everything I could think of to fix that problem. I finally decided to replace the distributor with a rebuilt one, and the problem went away. If I were you, I'd be tempted to replace the distributor with an HEI.

Good point pjmoreland! I ended up dropping in a used HEI from a 77 Nova from a junk yard, best thing I ever did!
