Putter's truck and hidden treasure!
Meet up with Eric (putter) and George (Gman69) to scam some free stuff off of Eric (250 w/tranny and assorted stuff). Here's a few pics of Eric's truck to show the roll pan he made for it with the lights installed. Looks good to me.
Also a pic of my helper and heir to my truck.

Then for the treasure. We went to check out a junkyard George heard about somewhere between me and them (not giving the secret away just yet )
Found some cool stuff. Here's a GMC hiding in the bushes. Seemed to be in pretty good shape. Definitely had some usable parts on it.

Here's a patchwork quilt we found with a truck tilt column in it.

don't you wish you had the room to load them up and take 'em home! OK we need to buy 5 ten acre plots of land evenly spread across the lower 48 states. Trailers and truck to haul the trailers. Gather up all the 67-72 trucks and drag them to the 5 plots of land. There is the beginning of the biggest mess of "no its mine, not yours, mine". But we would have parts for many years to come. Arizona "aridzona" would need to be one of the locations. No locations in CA since I could not afford the land or want to deal with the state. Yep I live there.

Here's a long bed with a novel approach to putting a/c on a six. He mounted the compressor to the frame! I wonder how many belts he threw off?
Also found a long step bed that was in pretty good shape w/ the exception of the driverside fender. The yard also had various sway bars (including a rear bar on a trans am) and some other useful goodies. Many thanks to Eric for the free stuff, to George for the location of the yard.

Krue,
Where are you located at? I'm in Pensacola, maybe we could hook up on one of your scouting adventures. Rob

krue,
Putter and I found the truck that long step bed came from. The cab was pretty decent- almost no rust. Frame was damaged though. Glad y'all came up. Hate we missed out on the mud bugs.

Did ya'll wind up buying anything? Were the prices reasonable?
I appreciate ya'll inviting me along. They didn't have anything I really need but it was cool to be able to walk around a yard. Hart_Rob I live within spitting distance of Hattiesburg, MS. We have a couple of members in Gulfport (palf70step and edb). We need to have a gulf coast meet sometime. We keep trying for Cruizn the Coast but the weather never cooperates.

krue,
By the time we got back to Hal's office, he was gone. Putter's going to call him real soon about the 3rd brakelight from that Mighty Max and some other stuff. BTW, once when I was working down your way, I discovered a HUGE yard somewhere between Richton and Waynesboro. Do you know of it?

George, I think it may be the Warr yard you are talking about and I had some plans on scoping it out this week. A friend of mine says they are pretty good to deal with but I haven't been there yet.
