I know it has been asked before!
But I can't find it!. I even can't find the search!.
Hi guys/gals: Correct me if I am wrong please: 1- Brake booster from 73-87 doesn't bolt up to 67 pedal set up. If this is correct, how hard is it to modify it? 2- master cylinder from 73-87 does bolt up to 67 booster. 3- Brake line fitting are different between 67-72 and 73-87. The reason for all these is the cost. I can get the whole booster and master cylinder for 73 and up for under 140$ with life time warranty versus 300$ something. I am converting to front disc and it is 3/4 ton. Thanks |

You can get a complete replacement for the 67-72 from napa for like 170.00. They sell boosters alone for about 140, and master cylinders were like 40 or 50. Check their web site.

you are correct on all 3.
I found this out myself. but I didnt let that stop me. I modified the booster bracket to fit the 68 firewall, grafted together the 68 pedal top (where it swings from under the dash) to the 73-87 bottom using all but the top 3 inches. then ran new lines from the master to the later combination valve using the correct fittings & then flaring the lines myself. it all works pretty darned good

Nima, you have to chose "chevy truck" from the manufactures list, not just "chevy".

you will also need brackets and I think a different rod to the pedal. These aren't available from Napa.

find the place that they get thier brake parts from. In seattle I buy all my brake parts rfom olympic brake supply who delivers to napa/schucks/ect. and save about 30%. When i had my burb and replaced everything except the rear drums and front rotors a save mucho dinero$$$. another plus is thier counter guys actually know what they are selling.

70GMC BOB, do they have any phone # or web site? or do they have any place in Ca that you know of? So far, to avoid any modification on my pedal set up, I came to this conclusion: Buy a booster for 67 (80 to 85$), 73-87 master cylinder which suppose to bolt right up (30-55$) and get the new pp vlave. This way the whole thing should stay close to 150 to 180$. Ofcourse I need new lines too. Please correct me if you see anything wrong with this method. If this is ok, this way other people can save some money too. Thanks |
