4 core radiator installation
I ordered a 4 core radiator from radiator.com. I am going from a 3 row and someone had said on another thread that new mounts are required with a 4 core. Radiator.com said that it is an OEM install.
Will I need new brackets? If so, I guess vendors will have them or do I have to go to the parts yard? Thanks

I have also heard new mounts are needed, but last year I installed a new 4-row using the oem mounts.

You need new retainers & pads for the top & bottom. All the vendors should have them. Your local chevy dealership should too. They are just slightly longer than the 3 core brakets and not very expensive. I replaced the 3 core in my '69 Blazer with a 4 core.

You will also most likely have to modify your radiator support as well. No big deal, you just bend down the lip on the support so the longer bottom 4-core retainers can bolt down flush to the support.

When I went from a 3 to a 4 in my 71 GMC 2wd it bolted right in without changing a thing.

It may depend on how worn your radiator mounts are.

If you have a 3 core now all you need todo is put in new rubber mounts as long as the bottom mounts are not rusted off. The old 3 core rubber will probable work but the new rubber will give a better cusion. I just put a 4 core from GMC pauls in.
