Bumper Brackets?
Can anyone tell me (or show Pictures) of the difference between the 67-68 & 69-72 bumper brackets. I'm putting a 68 clip on my 71 and according to the catalogs they're different but it's hard to tell the difference in the cat's. Thanks

I can post a pic if you let me know if you are working with a C-10 or K-10 as it makes a difference.
The 71-72 front bumper brackets are different from the other years because of the lights in the bumper. Jim |

Thanks JimKshortstep for your reply. My 71 Chevy is a C10 fleetside onto which I am pitting a 68 front clip. Like you say the turn signal lights are in the grill on the 68 vs in the bumper on the 71. When I bought the 68 clip I didn't realize the bumper bracket issue would creep up. Since I have already bought the 67-68 bumper I am going to need the proper brackets. Thanks for the info. Regards

Yes. You need 67-70 bumper brackets if you want to use a 67-70 bumper. I went thru the same problem. You may also need to notch the drivers side to clear the powes steering box.

I would not recommend buying used brackets just in case that was your plan. Buy new ones from a BOARD VENDOR!. There is no way to tell if the bumper was ever tapped in it's 30+ years causing a slight bend. This will drive you crazy when hanging the bumper because you might not realize which of the 4 is bent. I went thru this back in the fall.

Thanks guys, Sorry I'm late one replying to you. I had an accident yesterday going home from work. A Honda pulled in front of me and both cars are totaled, I was't hurt but the couple in the other care were injured. The bad part other than the injuries is that they don't have insurance. So my little mide size truck that I haul all my parts from swap meets, body shops etc is toast and I will have to replace it. Don't get used brackets eh? Thanks for the advice. How do the uninsured keep on the road? Hell, if I didn't have proof of insurance at this wreck I would have been stripped searched.

Here in Maryland we are protected by the UNINSURED MOTORIST FUND. We all pay into it. Check with your agent.

I'm hoping as a last restort (if I can't find any before then) that in the fall at the Charlotte Auto Fair to be able to find a set of org ones from all the aviable resourses there. So if anyone could I would appreciate it if you could make digital shots of 67-68 brackets. I have found everything orginal but a front bed panel and a tailgate so far, my experience with aftermarket vs org hasn't exactly enjoyable. Thanks for all your advise & input.

I would reccomend MAR-K front bed pannels. I am a perfectionest and I have had nothing but problems with new Repo non GM parts. The headboard fit without dremmling anyholes PERFECT. I was amazed at how well it fit. It awesome .Ity came in a 1"x3" wood crate to protect the edges.y not to be a put down but you will never find a old front pannels thats not full of dents. I looked for 3 years untill I broke down and bought the MAR-K one
