Keep a Small block in it or convert to Big Block?
I just bought(still have to get pics and drag it out) a clean & solid 72' C10 Cheyenne Super, A/C, p/s, p/b, no tilt/tach tonight. The truck originally had a 350 in it but that is now gone. Trans is there as is everything else. My question is, should I go the easy route and just throw another smallblock in it or since I will be pulling it apart for a detailing, should I put a bigblock in it? I have a really rough 72' Burb with a good running & completely original 72' date coded 402/T400 and I have all of the accesories with it too including the A/C stuff. I could do a "correct" bigblock conversion(I even have the high hump floor) but would that take away from the value of the truck? I may eventually resell the truck so I want to take resale value into consideration when I redo it...
Thanks, Joe

Put a smallblock in it....unless you are scrapping the burb I would not take the motor out of it.....If you are giving up on the burb then go ahead and make the switch.....m2c.....Paul

Tough Decision
Joe,
The angel on my left shoulder says "Tell Joe to put the BB in his new truck!" The little devil on my right shoulder says "Tell Joe to stick with a SB and sell us the BB!" Myself, I think it comes down to this: KEEP=BB. RESALE=SB. Doesn't sound like you would have much trouble selling it either way though. Can't beat the coolness factor of the BB! If you don't believe me, just look at my signature! All BBs and one REALLY rare SB. Take care, Mike PS Waiting to here back from David on your buddys parts.

I would go with the 402 myself, if not "STROKE THAT BAD BOY WITH A 383".

My machinist friend said that I shouldn't bother with a big block unless it is a 454. Any BB that is smaller than that is a waste of time/money. Based on that I'd say stick with a small block. Then as long as you're going small block you should build a 383.
