1972 suburban / rust repair in Pac NW - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 1972 surburban we picked up a couple years ago. It is in great overall shape but has rust issues in the sills, a few body mounts, and above the rear bumper. I have neither the time or knowlege to graft in new metal.
I'm looking for references for any shops in the NW I can take it to to get a quote on replacing the affected areas.
Do brand name collission centers even do this kind of work or will I be calling hot-rod & custom shops?
I'm in Lynnwood, WA. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm ready to start building this truck but I need to start with a solid platform.

sorry can't help, but just wanted to comment on how good your burb looks!!

You would be better off going to a "rod shop" to have those few area's fixed. A production shop will not want to take the time to do it and their attitude towards it will most certainly reflect in the estimate. The rockers & floor braces are one thing to fix but the panel under the tailgate isn't made new so patches will need to be fabbed.

It really is a good truck. I'd like to hold on to it, the quotes will tell me if I can or if I need to go shopping for a truck someone else has already spent an arm and a leg on fixing...

If that's the only issues with the truck and your not sure how to do it, take a bodywork class at the local votech school. It will be a hell of a lot cheaper and you get to do the work yourself while your there with thier equipment...(Another notch in your belt...)

I would suggest "COB WEB" Specialties. (Rod & Custom Fabrication) They are in Edgewood, WA. I have seen there work before and after paint and all I can say is it is Awsome!! I delivered some 58 Chevy parts to them the other day and took a look at their work. I was looking at the bare metal and you couldn't even tell where the repairs were. One of the cars was probably my 57 convertible that you saw at the show. Body and paint was great but the owner threw the rest of it together for the show and never finished it or stood behind his work. He's since ran the body man off. I'll never go there again. CarterB, it was my experience about 2 years ago that the majority of the collision centers will not work on anything this old. I found a shop that I was mostly pleased with in Woodinville called Advanced Auto Body. It's basically a 2 man shop and they do good work at a decent price (I wasn't looking for show quality). They replaced both lower rear quarters and one tailight section (patch panels) on my Burb and did the partial paint work. Les Schwab had backed a shop truck into the rear corner, and I had the other areas fixed while it was in the shop.
