Frame Swap?
I was wondering if a 1960-1966 shortbed frame is the same as a 1968.
My Son in law has the 68 4/WD Shortbed and the frame is broke. I was told by someone years ago that the frames remained the same until 70 or 72. Can anyone help me out on this one. I have a 65 short step and found a good parts truck with a good frame. If I could use the frame too, I'd like to buy it. Thanks Stubby Last edited by Stubby; 07-03-2005 at 09:11 AM. I've owned a '72 and I now own a '65 and As far as I can tell the frames are almost identical. I know that the 67-72's had a dimpled area where the steering box is mounted, and cross members might be different but they should all be interchangeable. Hope this helps

Thank you: Mr.Magooster
I have purchased a power steering gear box for my Son in laws Truck it came off a 66 model 4wd and looks like it's the same as his 68's manual box. So I'm pretty sure of the swapping of the frames, without too much trouble. Stubby 65 SS (short-step). |
