I just installed the Jute insulation and sound proofing on the floor and back wall of my truck. I started calling around about carpet and found that several suppliers include sound proofing and the Jute pad sewn into the carpet.

Does anyone know if I will run into problems using the carpet with the pad sewn into it along with the pad I have already installed? It will be about an inch thick, should be well insulated but my concern is things not fitting right like the sill plates, seat and gas peddle.

I would think the more the better, to a certain extent.

Keep in mid that Molded carpet with padding is molded to fit your bare floor. If you have more padding it may cause the new carpet to not sit right around the tunnel and other molded areas.

a problem with using alot of jute padding in the florida climate is it will abrorb moisture and start to get mold and mildew as well as promote premature rust, as well as being an excellent breeding ground for insects other than that it's ok

I agree with Rokcrln. I work in an upholstery shop in Washington and the truth is, if you put molded carpet with jute on top of another layer of jute, you will run in to problems like it not fiting like it was intended to and it will be a pain to line all of your floor mounted accesories and what not. I have layed two layers of jute before, but the customers always have it re-done. The choice is yours.

Thanks for the replies, I had several of the same concerns, didn't think about mold and moisture though.

Can anyone recommend a vendor that has carpet without a jute pad?

I buy my carpets from auto custom carpets. There web address is accmats.com. You can call them and ask if the carry carpet without jute. It just depends on the vehicle usually.
