How much header clearance?
I dropped in my engine and I have between 1/8 and 3/16 or so of clearance with the engine mount. Do I need to shim with some washers? Im thinking this wont be enough clearance when the engine torques or whatever else.

I realize this won't be much help, but with my inline 6, I have less than 5mm of clearance between my headers and the motor mount.

It's not a daily driver. The headers interfere with my clutch linkage (Z-bar), throttle linkage.
The engine runs without problems, but I haven't driven it so I don't know what would happen if I hit a bump. I have no problems revving the engine. But with no exhaust, yet (headers only) it sounds like a freakin motorcycle gang in my garage.

I think you are going to be really close. But you might get away with it. Give it a try unless they are ceramic coated then you may not want to chance chipping the coating.

They are ceramic coated so I want to be sure I have enough clearance. How much clearance do I need? Ill just stick some washers in b/w until I can get what i need.

Pat, may I ask a couple ??? ?
What engine do you have, v8? Which side (if not both) is close? Which part of the motor mount? Tower I'm assuming.

I have a 383. I think its close on both sides. Its really close to the top of the tower, almost level with the framerail.

You should be fine on the driver side, but may have a little trouble on the pass. The 383 will have plenty torque and with rubber motor mounts may allow it to hit. Not sure of a great way to correct....
