Replacing door hinges......
Can I replace the drivers door top hinge, without taking off the door----in other words, let the bottom hinge stay in place (it is in good condition) and help hold the door up (with a little padded jack support) and put in the new hinge this way? I am trying to keep from taking the whole door off if I can........ I got a great deal on a new hinge and was going to replace it in total vice just the pins/bushings........
It is a 84 C10, silverado BTW......

Anyone on the net help here??
Surely someone has done this (I hope) by not taking off the lower hinge and keeping the door attached./.......or have they? Can this be done?

You might get lucky by removing the front fenders. So that the door can stay on. But Im not totally sure about that either.

I was hoping that I could get to the top hinge bolts thru the inside of the cab by the A/C vent----then use the lower hinge to support the door (get a buddy to help hold a bit too), and replace the top hinge in total ........I believe I get to the bolt head thru the dash vent/////........I don't know, was just hoping to not have to take the whole door off to replace the top hinge.......how hard is it to take the fender off???

well you can try. I dont think your going to kill the bottom hing. esp if you have someone holding it and jack stands. just try. if you cant you should beable to put the in through a couple holes to get it to close and re-think. it looks like theres enough room to do it. but the door looks quite heavy so make sure you get your friend lots of beer good luck. Ide like to know

Woody96 you can do the upper henge. You just need to support the door so it wont hang to low or fall over. Just remember 1 bolt on the henge piller comes from the inside. you may have to take the dash bezel and the AC vent out to accsess the bolt. good luck. Matt
