cab drain holes
i just had the rockers, corners and supports replaced on my cab. i am having a hard time seeing where moisture might be able to drain out. Has anyone added drain holes? looks like it might be a good idea along the bottom of the inner rocker facing the center of the truck. ideas?

there should be two small "dimpled" notches on each inner rocker for drainage. I did enlarge them when I replaced my rockers.

There’s a hole in the cab supports, and it allows dirt and water… to get in. mine were filled with dirt and sand, and the fronts were rusted out. When I replaced them I made holes in the bottom-most part so water or whatever could get out.
Also I never put in an inner rocker when I did my rockers. There's no rust starting, and no problems with moisture. If you were to bag your truck and lay rocker or take the cab off and lay it on the ground on the rockers, they’d crumple up because they’re not as strong. I plan to keep the cab on the frame, and keep the rust off, so it works for me. Quote:

I dont know why that hole is in the end of the rocker, especially since it is supposed to have a plastic plug in it.

I removed the plastic plug and we drilled holes down the bottom edge to help drainage.

the drain holes, more like slits, dont work worth a dam because they get clogged. an old timer clued me in about them. he said to clean them out with a hack saw blade when you change the oil. works well! just stick the blade in the hole and pull it out a few times

Can someone highlight what factory slits your talking about? I had my original rockers repaired by a bodyshop and mine might be weld shut. Are their holes & slits? My rockers are showing signs of rust now and will need work. Thanks Doug

They are at the bottom of the rockers on the inside edge, crawl underneath and they should be there. I plan on making mine bigger for drain purposes. As a side note there is also one at the back corner of the cab also that is probably plugged.

Hmmm, I've been over pretty much every square inch of my truck and I have never notice them before. I'll have to have a closer look.

i've done the right side already, fortunately for you here's the left side (stock). it's rusty so there's plenty of "drain" holes but i circled the factory ones. the factory holes are rectangular pop out kind of holes.
