i ruined my cig. lighter removing it, and figured i was on a roll when i couldn't get the ignition out. the manual says insert a piece of wire into the hole and make sure the key is on acc... ok step one complete. then rotate counterclockwise... it didn't move and i was waiting for it to move so "the lock cylinder will come out." well like i said the key wouldn't move and i didn't want to ruin my ignition, so how do i get it out?

You are right there , some times a little WD40 helps , just put a paper clip in the small hole and turn the key counterclockwise ( in the direction of Ass) or further ,and pull it out .

yea i've done plenty of that, bent the key too. had to bend it back straight.

When I did mine the first time it didn't just fall out as advertised. I had the wire in the hole, key turned, nothing. I messed around and messed around and all of a sudden it just fell out.

well mine still wont come out. i've shaken, oiled, used penetrating lube, and put the strongest small wire i could find, (.30 welding wire) and i found a nail that fit in there too, and i just can't get the key to turn counter clockwise.

Matt; They can be boogers the first time,Try 2 different technique's
First turn the key counterclockwise then place the wire ,in the hole and try to turn further .
Next, place wire in hole and turn counterclockwise .
Last .BFH

i thought to take it out you just spin the round chrome thing the ignition is in. mine fell out one day going down the road cause that chrome peice worked its way off the threads

I find that if you are not lined up with the pin when you push in the paper clip in you wont get the cylinder to go past. Just in case you don't have one to go by as a guide here is a pic (somewhat fuzzy) of the ignition switch and the pin you are trying to push in on. It is spring loaded and that is what you are trying to get the cylinder by. As a reference I believe that the flat spot on the casing is the bottom of the ign switch when installed

Sometimes they have never been out of the switch,and are a PITA to get out.I had to use some of these bad boys to pull the tumblers out once I got it turned back

some years don't have an acc position and I think then you trun it to the run position. I've taken several out and even when you've done it before it can drive you crazy. Done freak out & keep trying ( easier said than done). After the pin is pushed in you still have to turn the bezel part to get it to come off I think. Sure as shootin it will eventually just fall apart and you'll never really know how you did it. That's the part that REALLY drives me crazy.
