I need an ignition switch ('72). The old one wont shut off my ignition anymore. Ive been told that reproduction switches tend to be junk, and want to buy a good one. I will be making some upgrades to the electrical system so the switch is not having 50 amps drawn through it, but still want to buy a good switch

Could try and get a NOS one on e-bay (can't remember if I've seen them before though). What was wrong with the repop ones (just curious)? Or you could check GM (might be a long shot though). Doug

I bought one at auto zone back in late 97, and it has been removed and placed in the next truck every time I got rid of a truck. It still works fine.

Bought one at NAPA, Echlin, (their line of electrical components) and not a problem for five years now.

Bought one from AutoZone for about $10 that's made by Wells. It's been in there for about a year and still works fine. I have a GM one still in the box, but that's for when I restore the truck.

A good friend of mine who has restored a couple of 67-72's and works on them quite frequently said they had problems. I am assuming they had problems because of improper wiring. I dont like buying junk. I do it, but on critical stuff, I like to save a headache, and spend an extra dollar.

Inspect the harness. They frequently melt and cause problems from all the amps going through it. Use dielectric grease also, it'll help controll the heat.

I went to my local parts store and bought a Standard brand replacement. Never had a problem with them.
