what is this stuff worth?

I have a '72 that still has all of the orig. smog equipment intact. Soon the motor will be coming out, and replaced with a vortec 5.3. Somebody mentioned that there actually might be some interest in the smog parts??

Hey I remember that engine. How was your trip home? While at Blues you mentioned not having help to install the axels and I wanted to offer labor when possible. Let me know ahead of time and I will try and arrange the time.

The trip home was uneventfull. I think I will be needing a new tcase tho, I am gettin an awfull beginnings of some bad sounds as you get on and let off the gas. The rear seal officially is bad too As far as help goes, I typically dont need any unless I am jammed for time, and need to get my rig ready for something like in 4 days after I get parts for a major undertaking. I will never again work a week solid on something to get it ready. If its not ready to kick the tires, load my stuff and go, I am not going to take it. The 5.3 swap will be fun tho, and will kill the winter. :/

:americanrider: I will take a pic or two, and some measurements.

Well, not ALL the smog stuff is there, the carb isn't smog legal, and I'm not sure about the coil, plus I see no heat riser and the air filter is gone....I'll assume it's removed for photo reasons though.

All messing around aside, personally, I'd put it all on e-bay, one smog item at a time. If you lived in Cali long enough, you probably know what a PITA it was to pass smog a few years ago, and many states are still making old stuff pass.

He's installing a 5.3, so as far as smog laws go, his truck will become a 2000-something.

I don't need smog parts but I'm interested in your oil dipstick and tube! It looks like the bracket is broken.

in cali. the way the law is written, I can still get smogged for any reason (tho I am smog exempt.) They cannot do a visual inspection of the motor, BUT they can do a visual inspection for gas leaks. I do have the orig. air cleaner with a new K&N air filter, Reman'd points distributor, and a qjet from a 396 ss i could slap on if the situation called for it. (smog guys cannot tell difference :p) The dipstick tube is not broken, but it is "bent" or not installed correctly afik. I would have to check that again.
