Question A/C removal

Ok, so my "new" truck had factory air but its missing most of the parts including the compressor and related hard wear.
If I remove all the a/c components can I just bolt on a heater/defroster? Right now I don't care about the a/c but a defroster is a must in humid Florida.
Mahalo for your help.

You can just use the heater/defroster part of the AC and leave the AC box in place. It is possible to change out the AC boxes but it is a bit of work and the firewall holes have to be reworked for the heater changeout.
