'SPACED OUT' 700R4 in 4x4
For those of you that installed a stock 4x4 700R4 in a 67-72 4x4 by using a 'spacer' block between the tranny and transfer case adapter, I have a few questions. First of all, with the 700R4 being 2" longer than a TH350 and the 'spacer block' being xx" thick (nobody will tell me just how thick it is ), where exactly does this leave the engine cradle on the frame rails if you leave the transfer case crossmember in the stock location?? Are you able to use any of the factory holes that are drilled in the frame for the engine crossmember?? Does this setup push the engine further forward than the I6 location?
Those of you that installed the Advance Adapters output shaft, these questions are not for you. Nothing personal, its just that the AA setup is much different as far as how far the engine has to move forward. We'll talk about that option later. Thanks to all, 72longbed Last edited by 72longbed; 08-12-2005 at 08:58 PM. |

Sorry I cant help with your questions, I do know you have to grind 1/8" off the output shaft of the tranny and 1/8" off the input shaft of the transfer case in order for them to seal with the spacer.
I have the part number of the spacer and Reds info if you need it.

Blazerman,
yes I do need the info on the spacer. Please Post it here so that I and others will have it for the future. With the Search function gone, it's difficult to do any re-Search anymore. Thanks for your help with this, 72longbed |

The part number is #7Q35A and should be around 60.00 , I've been by Reds shop in K.C. and they have another shop in Wichita.
