installing th400 into 72 swb with th350?
well since the search button is no longer there, i have to ask this question. i just bought a 72 swb 2wd truck that has a th350 in it now.... i want to put a 396 in it and put in a th400 that i have. will that bolt in? is the driveshaft gonna need to be cut or anything? mount in the same spot? the truck already has a high center hump because i think it was a 4 speed truck when new... anyone that can help that would be great thanks!!
Matt

Your best bet will be to mount it all up, stock set up or otherwise, and then call your local drive line place, and ask them how they want you to measure it. There is a standard for this, but as soon as you assume they go by that standard, they won't, and your shaft will be cut too much.
It will need to be shortened, and you'l need a new yoke too. |
