how much hp, can th350 handle?
im having a 396 bb built up for my 72 shortbox, i want to install a th400 but not looking forward to getting a different yoke and gettting the shaft cut..... should i just stay with a th350? or is it worth the work to a th400? thanks!

I had one built for my Model A running a 6:71 blown 350 (ported heads and all that other crap)...680 horses.

are you rebuilding the TH350? It's doubtful any of the one's mentioned are anywhere near stock. They can undoubtably be built ($$) to withstand alot of punishment. It also depends on how bad your going to treat it(just street tires or track/slicks...). For peace of mind I went ahead and swapped in a TH400, because I didn't want to be swapping transmissions frequently. Most likely, if you're talking about a cruiser/ street tire smoker, the 350 will be fine.

My friend ran one in a lifted 77 4x4.. big tires, 500hp 454.. tranny outlasted the truck.
