If I ever find that murphey guy, I swear, I am gonna kill him...
Who else here has murphey bugging them on absolutely everything they do?
Go to fire the TPI 355 up today. Crank her over - Nothing. Not even a sputter. Check for spark, got a good strong blue spark on every cylinder, got air, so its gotta be fuel. Start going some checking, and find a dead short in the injector wiring, so I pull the entire upper intake, and runners off to get at the injector wiring, and fix the short. Put it all back together, and hit the starter, POOF, big puff of smoke, and I loose all power in my truck. Great. Now I get to go through my entire wiring harness to find out what blew, and fix it all. Probally blew my ECM as well. I have no idea what possibly could have been shorted to ground that has anything to do with the starter wiring, which was working an hour or two before. So now I get to run to Napa, drop another 50 bucks on intake gaskets, and fix whatever the heck blew up now, so it'll probally be another 2 - 3 full days before I can even think about trying to fire my truck up again. Worst part is that I only have tommorow to work on it, then I am stuck back at work for the next two weeks straight. So basically, I won't get to even try to fix it until I am back in school. Just not possible that the truck will work on the first try, even though I literally spent months checking every single connection in that truck, less the injector wiring, of course. Arrrrggghh /rant

Ah crappy TPI.
Plenum gaskets are reuasable. Most TPI'ers just use Hylomar on them since they have been ported beyond any gasket size in an attempt to make them flow. All power going means the fusable link at the starter got cooked or of course the battery cables. The injector wiring harnes shouldent cause a short large enough to fry the ecm but anything is possible.

Oh My God he got me today too.
Tightened my A/C belt and cleaned out the gunk from the clutch, just to proceed to break knob for the blower motor switch. And you can't just replace the knob (I don't think?) Great. I mean, its only prolly 20 bucks from the dealership, but still, that's a couple trips out to the dealership (accross town) and back that I didn't plan on. At least it stuck on HIGH so I can flip on the air and it should dump pretty well. Murphey's law sucks. Sorry about your motor. I guess that's one of the reasons i'm glad I got carburation Best of luck!!

Well, I lucked out this time guys. Murphey didn't entirely get his way with me this time.
It winds up that the marret came off of the wire I have on my positive terminal for my electric fans, and touched the frame. Made a lot of smoke, and a lot of noise. My truck has an odd quirk, if you ever short anything out, the negative terminal immediately looses it's connection until you twist it a bit. I totally forgot about that, and thought that I blew my fusible link. Gave the negative terminal a quick turn, and and suddenly everything came back. Tommorow I'll go get new gaskets (the old ones got soaked in coolant, won't be any good) and put it back together, see if I can get some fuel to pulse out of the injectors.

Alright, the final prognosis is a bad ECM. I've got a new one coming for tommorow night. I put my ECM in an easy to access location, so I can have it replaced in about 10 minutes. Then I shall see if my injectors pulse, at which point the whole mess can be put back together (got my gaskets today, 45 bucks for them ) and fire the truck up

Eek! That is some scary stuff. I started taking my TPI apart this weekend. Broke a bolt holding the Idle circuit on the TB of (crap) then when pulling the rail off I found I have a broken injector! (double crap), and of course the UGLY white paint someone put on the intake will have to be sand blasted, and I loaned it out! I feel you pain, but it will be worth it.

Yep, I agree.
What type of injectors do you have? I've got a couple old pintle style injectors you could have for free. I dunno if they are for a 305 or 350 though...

Yep, thats what I have! 5 or 6 305 injectors from an 85 car. I bought a set of the newer 350 injectors, after several of the old injectors were damaged + I learned they were from a 305.
Give me your shipping address, and I'll get them into the mail tommorow

PM returned!
I'll check for the rest of the injectors after I get home from dropping my mother's truck off at the body shop, and ship them off after that.
