967 mile turn and burn to get parts...

Cab was supposed to be completely 'redone' and ready to set on the frame - as it turns out there's a few issues that'll need to be taken care of but nothing major that I can see so far. The four-core is off a 3/4 ton truck (is it a direct fit once I buy the four core brackets?) the visers and door panels are originals and have been in storage for quiet some time but are not dry rotted or cracked at all - should clean up nicely. Windshield has one little pit in it but should be okay for awhile. I'll be taken the cab down to a buddy's shop later this morning so I once I get his take I'll have a litte better idea of what I got. Oh yea, he also gave me the ds/ps doors (one has been redone the other is in bad shape) vin plate, tittle, and glove box door that goes with it, as well as the gauged instrument cluster.

Gas kicked my A$$. However, I never seen one station out of gas and the highest price I paid for fuel (even around Atlanta, GA) was 3.23 but most of the stops was around 3.09.

i just drove 1202 miles a couple of weeks ago to get an engine, whew.... that was a haul.

Ive done long road trips many a time,but sometimes you have to do that to get what you want or need when you can't find it locally.Glad to see it worked out for you.

At the end of May, my wife and I drove 2700 miles round-trip to get a Blazer tub from Arizona in 3 and a half days! On that trip we thought $2.20 a gallon was way too much to pay! HA! We are getting ready to take another trip to Pennsylvania for a single wall top, but that trip will cost a little bit more...

I bought a new 4-core radiator off of a 1-800-radiators-R-US website then I bought brand new brackets and cushions from a vendor on this board.

When I was done the fan shroud didn't fit right. When I posted a question I was told the new cushions are too thick.

If you buy new brackets and cushions, be prepared to shave the cushions down a bit. All I did was make little metal "spacers" to get the shroud to bolt at the top.

And, according to my stock gauge, my engine runs HOTTER with the 4-row. I think that is because my fan now sticks in the shroud a bit where before it was half in and half out. I haven't worried about it because it is still WAY in the normal range.

You are probably better off buying a new radiator....then having that one fixed. Shop around...they are only $200.

Good cabs are getting harder and harder to find look slike you got a pretty good start on that find..

It's in pretty good shape - not as good as the guy said it was (he made it sound like it was ready to paint and set on the frame) but way less issues than what my other cab has.

The spots in photo doesn't look as bad in person as they do in the photos. There's several rad shops in the local area so I think it's worth while to at least have it pressure tested if the cost isn't too much, otherwise I'll go new.

Has everyone ran into the same problem MRein3 did with after market radiators?
