too cool!

You guys have got to check this out. This is a great tool for alot of things... If you think this isn't in the right place, I first used it to find out how to get to a board members house to pick up a part from him.

http://earth.google.com/

Here is a screen shot of our local 1/8th mile dragstrip. It gives elevations, Lat/long, and GPS coordinates. For urban areas it even has 3 dimensional buildings. Too cool!

I got turned on to this a few months ago. I thought it was the coolest thing... my wife thought I was nuts. I started taking virtual trips around the world... Russia, China, France... some of the imagery is incredibly high res. and the 3-D topo view for where I live in the mountains is awesome. It’s sad, but earlier today I was using it to check out New Orleans and towns along the Gulf Coast.

Here's our local drag strip... Bandimere Speedway, home of the Mile High Nationals…

I was going to post this last nite too. I just downloaded it yesterday afternoon. It is scary the details that you can see. This is a lot clearer that was available even a year or so ago.

Wonder what high security spy satellite pictures look like?
