my '69 pickup
Howdy everybody. You might remember me from my welcome thread, (which for some reason isnt counting any of my posts there in my post count, goofy forums ) Well anyways, I promised some pictures there, and I finally got some. Anyways, I figured I would post them up here, for you all to oggle at, and comment about. Anyways, here's the first five of the twenty I have of the ole '69...

some more pics of the '69... notice how far back my engine sits (guy before me stuck the 350 on the 250's engine mounts) and also notice my pretty (rotten) wooden floor... but soothe your eyes on the original (right?) hubcaps, and original jack...

more pics... notice the beautiful and mismatched exhaust what a job there, eh? that's gunna have to be one of the first things replaced...
in addition to these pics, I threw in one I took of sheer boredom of the rear suspension... and got a quick qeustion also, what's with that loose looking cord/wire thing on that rear control arm (I think?) there? is that something with the brakes??

and the rest... glovebox panel, just for shows, all the major rust on there (except under the battery) and the original steering wheel, which is going back on if I don't get a power steering pump in there

A few nice things that you didn't point out, Uncut dash, nice door panels, no rust in the cab rails & gutters. Good starter truck to play with. To answer your question, this is the e-brake cable (marked in red) that goes into/through your brake backing plate. It might be easier to find a better steering wheel that to repair that one you have.... it's in bad way from sitting in the sun.

Cool Ol' ND farm truck!
I'm not exactly sure but that SB might be in the right position. They do sit back a ways so the distributer is pretty close to the firewall.

My friend has a 72 GMC with a 350 and a 4 speed with the same shifter as yours and that is where his engine sits.

A lot of people put the v-8 in the straight six position to balance the weight better anyways. Solid truck.

it looks real straight, but if you clean the wheels or get something good looking, ditch the 73-87 mirrors, get some chrome bumpers, and maybe wash it, i'd buy that truck off ya. nice truck.

thanks for all your good posts guys. About those mirrors though, I can't say much for good about them. The passenger mirror sits so low I can't even see it, although the driver's mirror is alright. That's all I need anyways, I guess the passenger could have his own mirror to look through!
And about that motor, I guess perhaps it might be alright if it sits there, as long as I can get that distributor out. Sometime eventually I'm going to have to start cleaning up that engine compartment, adding such as a HEI Distributor, painting/cleaning the block and various parts, and such, as a lot of my '69 was really rednecked and hodge-podged together by the previous owner, which is not a very good looking, clean, or safe situation. Like said, this truck is a project, I'll just have to bite into it one piece at a time. Thanks again, everybody, for your comments and answers and such.

That "cable" you have circled is the emergency brake cable.

The intake numbers say it's an 82-85 intake from a 305 or 350, and the carburetor looks like a Quadrajet from an Olds' 455, basing on the air cleaner housing, and how it a notch in it matches an upraised part of the carb. I'm assuming this shouldn't matter any, should it? I mean, the Quadrajet should still work with this intake/motor? Well anyways, I'm done with my blabbering on with questions, so I'll let you all get back to your other business, if you have any, that is :P
