Just wondering if new (2004) Chevrolet 8-bolt rims fit on a 72 3/4 ton?

Bolt pattern for all 8 bolts are the same. You may want to check back spacing however just to make sure.

FYI and not being a smart a$$.

This is true of all the chevies, gmc's and dodges.

Furd went metric in 97 on most trucks.

Check the inner diameter as well...hub size may be a problem.

Good info above. I *think* that if anything, our trucks may have smaller diameter axle stubs than some others, should be no problem. All (GM, Dodge, Ford) 8-lugs were the same until recently; Ford changed to an oddball pattern. Kinda makes sense!

Stocker, i think it is just the 70 and older with the small lugs, I think the 9/16ths lug is about the same as modern day....I am 99% sure they are all 15mm which is as close as you'll get to 9/16ths.
The back spacing will be a major issue. They will be tucked in way too much, esp if the wheels are off a 4X4. Bolt them on and go around the block before spending any cash.
It'll look like a real fat guy on a kids bike from the front or rear.

Andy, I was talking about the axle stubs (hubs), not lug studs.

I seem to recall that our oem whhels would not fit over some Ford hubs, for instance, because the Fords had a larger diameter hub - but if we wanted to, we could put oem Ford wheels on our rigs, as their axle holes were a larger diameter.

I know that if you try to run the 99+ 6 lugs you have to waller out the center hub a bit to fit 70- trucks. It might be the same for the 8 luggers. Just my 2 cents.

This is not an issue with the 8 lug wheels.

I've got a set on my 80, and the backspacing is perfect all around. The tires are flush with the fender wells, and go in a fair ways. They don't rub at all, and look great. I don't have center caps on mine though, because it is a 4x4 with a big set of manual hubs sticking out up front, and a bit 14 bolt axle sticking out the back. I just painted the hubs nicely, and used some black lug nuts, looks real good!

The `92 steel wheels from my K3500 would not fit over the hubs on my`72 K/20.That 72blu396 guy had them on his,but not sure if he had original axle,as other things on the truck weren`t.I asked ,but never got an answer about this.And,never saw a picture of the VIN-spec sheet.

I've got a set of the aluminum wheels off of an 03 2500HD on my 72...fit fine, just have to buy the lug nuts (new ones are metric) I have a set of 285/75-16 on there with no lift and have no problems, but I don't off road it

You can't use the lug nuts off a newer truck, they have metric threads. To install the center caps you have to buy 9/16 internal thread nuts with the external threads to hold on the caps, I got mine at a swap for a $1 a piece...have also seen them on e-bay.

I think any tire place should be able to get you the 9/16" Duplex lugs.The`88-up type trucks(8 lug)used 14mm,I`m pretty sure.

Scrubby...good idea on the rear caps, I'll give it a shot. That was one problem I hadn't solved yet, planning on cutting my front caps so my lock outs stick out through them. Also considered getting one ton caps for the rear, not sure, but assume they would be deeper.

The newer 8 lug wheels fit 3/4 ton 2X4s without any issues. You will however have to buy new lug nuts. The newer wheels bolt holes are cut at 60 degrees requiring a 60 degree lug nut. Here is a link to where I found some on the web: http://www.ezaccessory.com/.sc/ms/ca...y%20Lug%20Nuts
They have them in 7/16", 1/2", and 9/16" with external threads for the center caps.
I found that on the "Garden Truck" that the front wheels I had to sand the centers out slightly in order for the wheels to slip over the hubs without getting stuck on. No problems with the rears though.
My solution for the center cap problem was to break out the ole "Roto Zip". Since the front hubs, and back axles stick out too far to be able to install them, I used the roto zip with a circle cutting atachment to cut out 4 3/8" holes for the axle and hub to stick through. I painted the rear axles with ceramic aluminum color paint to clean up the look. I think that it turned out great. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

I did the hole cutting on a pair of rear caps and painted the axle ends just like Wes suggested Thanks again for advise). Turned out great and got a new Roto-zip too! Only problem I had with Roto-zip was the need to go real slow on cut. Broke a couple of bits and smelled a lot of melting plastic. I could not find a bit rated to cut better, just take your time and watch for the bit comming loose. I am running the 245's that came on these wheels alot. I might upgrade to larger tire if they fit wheels some day. Truck looks nice right now though.

I've got em on my 72 c-20. Got the double lug idea from another board member. Forgot who so can't give credit due. I would like about a 1/2" wheel spacer though. Truck looks like a kids wagon from the rear. Not bad at all up front.
