Drove my $100 72 today
It actually rode pretty good, just a little bit bumpy, thing had no brakes at all, I should have cleaned the mildewy windows, I could hardly see where I was going. The steering column I wired up held up OK, all the leaves and pine needles blew off as we went faster. There was some dust and crap blowing around the cab, due to the missing rockers and big hole on the driver's side, not to mention a bit of rust falling from the windshield/roof area, a few spots of rust through. The gauge cluster is missing so I couldn't tell how fast I was going on the Ol girl's last trip, someone in the past just cut the wires off to get it out. No glove box door either to tell what the options were. I looked back a few times to make sure no one rear ended us since I had no brake lights, no mirrors either. Good thing I was firmly attached to a 98 Chevy truck via a tow bar huh??

Damn...that shark really took a bite out of the right side of that cab. When does the season open on them?
Great truck though....looks worse than it really is. |

Yup
Seems a shame to part it out, it's about similiar to the 70 I'm working on, 70 has better bed sides/quarters, but front half of bed is missing, 72 bed is there but rusted/dented/big hole, 72 has no title or gauge cluster, inner roof is better than 70, I have more time than money so 70 is gonna get the parts needed to make a driver, windshield, inner roof, RF fender, and bench seat, maybe even grille. Next in the garage will be a 68 SFS hopefully, will use the 72 suspension or maybe even shorten the frame for it.
67-72 trucks are the 55-57 chevy cars of this time frame, still plentiful and cheap for projects.
