Just wanted to wish you well. Our son did a tour in Mosul and didn't care much for the place. His sergeant suggested that the unit ask family members to send vodka with green food coloring in mouthwash bottles. They went upcountry to Kurdistan and some of the unit found a bar. They didn't forget the sergeant who is now a pfc. All the best, take care.

Your service is appreciated though wish you were stateside enjoying your family and truck. We could use you in the Gulf States.
How can we do something for you -- send you care packages? Can magazines, food, drink, video games, etc be sent simply to you? Would it be best to send something to you through your family? Let me ((us) know and we will try and make your next eight months happier.

I'm not fishing for goodies, just visiting with my old friends with same interests. anybody that wants to write the address is : sgt. hobbs, william t, 779 th. maint. (GS) , 228 BCT, apo ae 09362-9997. MY truck is a 72 cheyenne 10. that started life as a long bed but i shortened it and found a so so bed. the cabcorners and rockers have been replaced and its gonna be blue and silver someday. i have a 305 and a 350 probably going with the 350 . with gas goung through the roof i may need a six cylinder! I purchased the inner fenders and some other stuff from tim christian he's a great person. my truck would have been complete in may ( if they ever get completed). but i got word of the deployment in february so work came to a screeching halt so i could spend quality time with my family. my buddy did a bunch of the body work on my truck and still has to complete the bed but he says that progress is being made. YIPEEE!! my wife has intentions of driving it to pick me up after this is over maybe she can . that would be cool! I know luv2xclr8 i bought a trans and some other stuff from him, hes a good guy with a cool addiction to a certain blue blazer! well i gotta go I'll be visiting often take care zooza1. out (thats military for bye) lol

Thanks for what you are doing over there. My oldest will be going over there next summer as well. If you could, just go ahead and clean all the bad guys out before she gets there! Hope the truck gets far enough along that the wife can come get you in it. Where are you stationed in the states? Good luck, and God bless. Jeff Swanson, CPO, US Navy.

Need parts?
Hey Zooza, I know you are not fishing for freebies, but, do you need any parts to finish you're truck. I am sure that there are several of us, myself included, that would consider it a priveledge to help you out. Hey, you put your life on hold to serve our country, I would consider it an honor to be able to help. I am not only talking about truck parts, is there anything your family needs help with while you are away? I have known several who have served in combat and I know they are proud and not very open to what they consider to be a hand out, but let those of us who can not serve as you are, do something to help make it easier for those that are. Thanks for your service.

I second junkyarddog67. I don't have much in parts but what I have can be theirs. This goes for anyone serving or has served. I did my part in 70-72 and understand. Find a VFW when you get home. This can help your return adjustment. Yeah you need an adjustment whether you believe it or not. Alcohol and drugs are comforting though they are not the answer, believe me.
Back to the positive. Let us know what you need and maybe we can serve you. Quote:

as far is i know i dont need anything, just good wishes and some letters or cards. maybe some old truck magazines.
i dio intend to join the vfw when i get back. i feel that even though ive seen some crazy stuff over here i cope well because of my civilian job as a trooper. danger is my middle name! LOL! I've looked for chevy trucks over here and woefully there are none to be found. (no wonder this place is so screwed up!) thanks for the offers on parts and such but right now i'm fine. gotta go 4 now , i pray for the folks in new orleans and i hope you all do to, they need it. |

Hey Zooza, Thanks for doing a great job over there. I also was in Iraq during the beggining of the war. Stationed at Tallil AB. Maybe some of the board mamber would like to send you a care package???? I know that when i was over there that was one of the most important thing besides pic's from the family. I would like to send you some Goodies. Are you able to recieve them? What would you like? Beef jerky, crackers, cookies, jack Daniels in a listerene bottle? Let me know, I would be honored to send a goodie package to a Brother and fellow service member. Scott
