Am I missing something here???
I pulled my wheel off to see why the horn is not working. In the red circle, is there supposed to be something there to contact the copper ring on the turn signal cam, to make the horn work? it's been soo long since I have been in the steering coulum, I can't remember. Thanks.

Uhm...I think you're right, but it's been quite a while since I've been in my steering column too. Can you run a ground wire from inside that red thing, to a screw, and see if that makes connection?

The piece is basically a copper plug with a spring behind it to make the connection to the ring.

You're missing the horn cam, or the post on the cam (spring loaded) that connects the horn ring with the button on the steering wheel.
The cam makes connections to the horn possible + automatically shuts off the turn signals while going around corners. It's a white plastic piece with a flange on one end (with a copper ring in it), 4 lobes around the cam part, and that spring loaded post. Sometimes the cam is sold separate from the post. Other times it's combined. Yeah, check with LMC. I think Chevy Duty and Brothers sells the cam separate from the post.

No I have the horn cam. Hehe. Had to move it to look around. The steering wheel would not work so well without it. Hehe. Is that plug the same on all GM turn siginal swichs of this style? I was gonna go to a swap meet this Sunday, but mayby, I should hit the bone yard.....

I just had mine apart yesterday. There is a spring and a aluminum rod about 1 inch long with a round red plastic lock ring on it that holds it all in there. I would send you mine but the wheel I am putting on later might require it. If my buddy ever makes my horn cap. I put on a Grant GT Challenger til then.

This switch was part of the kit for my Grant steering wheel, so it's not a GM product. As it sits, I might have to use it because my horn's not working at the moment. I wasn't worried about the horn, because revving the engine and using the finger worked just a well!!

Well I found this poor soul of a 71 swb stepside in the bone yard today. So I robbed it of it's turn signal swich. But upon getting home saw that the swich was messed up, so I removed the copper plunger and spring and installed it onto my current swich. And walla!!! I have a horn again!!
