stance correction
In an earlier post I told about how the rear of my truck one side sits about 3/4 inch lower than the other after looking and measuring. Looks like it is the coil springs one is just not compressing as much as the other. Two questions,
one how can I tell how low my truck is from stock? Two looking for ways to correct the coils with out replaceing them what about those coil sprig adjusters?(little clamps and bolt you can use to spread or compress your coil springs?) any other ideas? Thanks for your help

Its hard to tell the drop amount from looking. I have seen truck pics on here of 2-4 drops, some looked level while some had a rake. Today there was a pic of a truck with a 2-3 drop and it also looked level Maybe a shop could trim a little off the taller one to even the springs out?

I just put ECE 2.5" drop spindles with new stock height springs on the front and new 4" drop springs on the rear of my 69 SWB stepside.
Running 275/60R15's all the way around, from level ground to the edge of the fender above the wheels is: Front: 28.5" Rear: 30.75" That's a 2.25" rake. What I understand is the trucks originally came factory with about a 3" rake. I saw a drawing somewhere with the original heights to the fenders. I wish I knew where that was.

mine sits LF 29" RF 29 3/4"
LR 29 3/4" RR 30 1/4" running 235 70's in front 275 60's in rear I also hit a deer doing about 50 hit it with LF tire it was laying in road. could I have compressed the spring so much it is shorter now? As it is really out of wack at 29" or broke something? Everything else looks ok drives fine. I think it is a 3-4 drop does it sound right? Thanks

Okay, I found the picture. It is in the LMC catalog. According to the picture, the factory stance is 32" to fender edge on front and 34" to fender edge on the rear. So, a 2" factory rake, I guess.

Well, you also have to remember, there is a plus or minus 1 or 2 inch leeway from the factory. One stock truck can look much higher than another stock truck...even when they were new.
I don't recomend coil clamps nor the spacers you decribe. They cause undue stress in centralized locations and CAN cause sudden spring failure. You CAN shim the bed/body or even shim the suspention where the axle bolts to the trailing arms. Also, make sure to take measurements from the FRAME to the ground, and ensure you are on level ground and the truck is empty. By measureing the frame to floor, you are eliminating crappy 20 year old body damage/repair, 35 year old body mounts, and any other body sagging condition that may exist. |

The other thing when talking about stock height is what was the stock height of the factory installed tires? If you are running shorter tires, the distance from the fender to the ground maybe different, but it may have nothing to do with the suspension.
Anybody know what sizes tires originally came on C10's?

if I raise the drivers side with a floor jack 1/2 inch it is all level. anyone try those coil adjusters they sell to spread the coild springs?

those coil adjuster will ruin the springs and change the ride quality

I just cut a plate to go between trailing arm and diff housing to lower the high side. 1/4 " will probably do it. Mine was 3/4" off and 3/8 " plate leveled out. John
