I know I found a website once that rebuilt old radios for our trucks and converted them to be XM ready. You got the stoc look with the latest technology. Anybody know who sales these? Thanks.

I had it done to my radio but the web site isn't up anymore.It works good but it isn't stereo. Tomorrow I'll look through my paperwork and get a phone number. Chris

My buddy just uses an add on XM receiver in his 66 Vette. He carries it back and forth to all his vehicles, totally a plug in deal.

If I remember right the conversion for our stock truck radios to XM was like crazy $$$ around $700 US. I have heard that XM is a really cool format though and has a ton of variety. Doug

My Delphi Roady II has a built-in FM Modulator, so you just pick one of the FM stations that is supported, plug it in to the cig lighter, and throw the wired antenna onto the dash. I move it between vehicles, just like my radar detector. Not sure I could go back to listening to regular terestrial radio again. They are on sale at XM's site for $49.99.

The conversion for the stock radio was around $150. The conversion gives you a lead out of the radio that you plug your XM reciever into. It probably would work with Sirrus depending on the type of plug they use. Chris

sirius satalite radio is way better than xm. I know, I drive 160,000 miles a year and need the entertainment. Never would listen to terestrial radio again.

I know the receivers are about the same price. What's the price difference for the service between the two?

There`s a guy in Florida that converts original radios to CD/XM ready 180w stereo.He also has complete new units that look exactly like original.They are more compact under the dash,too.Oh,I just noticed it`s the guy Zeke is talking about.I saw him at Charlotte.Made in the USA.They`re $500 or $100 less with your radio.

One thing.Where do you put the dorky antenea?Did someone say there`s a dash mount portable?That`ll work.But,I hate all those cables drooping around my interior for that conversion stuff.

I'm confused, how many companies offer this "Satelite" radio. Just XM and Sirius?

1stTimePro71, There are only two Satelite Radio companies. When you but a stereo for a car or truck, most now come XM ready..meaning your XM receiver plugs in without any additional wiring and/or the controls on the ready will operate the XM reeiver which isn't even seen. There is someone, somewhere rebuilding AC DELCO radios for 67-72 trucks that do that.

Zeke, are you at Fort Rucker or are you actually from Daleville?

Rather than businesses buying time on the air for advertisements, you pay for the service. No advertisements.

I know that XM is about $13.00 per month. I don't know about Sirius.
