Ok, Ihave the pics of my 71's older cousin, the rattlecan blue 67 GMC. It needs a bunch of attn. It runs but barely. The shift linkage is all reversed. It backfires to the delight of my neighbors. Im going to check the plug wires to make sure there not crossed tomm. It has quite a bit of Rough bondo, but overall the body seems to be decent. usual rust areas. Not bad for $800 I guess. Ill start making foward progress on her after Christmas but for now she will rest peacefully in my garage.

When I was there a few years ago on a Friday afternoon before they really got things going, they were selling rides in the race cars and one of them spun out and crashed without anyone else on the track. That had to suck.

Have they made it any easier to get in and out of there?

Funny thing bout the GMC...Think it had a rear end swap. Front wheels are 6 lug and the rear are 5 lug...Is it a 3/4 ton? I havent decoded the vin yet and the protecto-plate is missing...

6 lug is 1/2 ton...all GM trucks before 71 were like this. It had probably either been swapped to discs, and then they kept them tossing on the old drum junk, or they were getting ready to swap over.
From these pics, it looks pretty cool.

I have to ask... how fast did you get on the track? And did you get a speedo pic while you were on there? I'd give my left lug nuts to do that.

Andy you should try to make one of the Goodguy events that are at a race track. It's a blast to watch these guys lap the track. The rule is you can't pass the pace car. The trick that these guys use is to drop back a half lap then gas it hard. You would be impressed to hear and see some of these cars/trucks making noise around the track....

Yeah you see alot of them backin off then un-corking it down the back straightaway! I asked them how fast we would go and they said about 70. I know my truck is good for more but like I said, I was afraid of hitting something sooo much more expensive than my trk.

As the pic shows theres a lot of children's Inheritances spent on that track!

Longhorn, I was too busy to get a pic of the speedo, but my passenger was snapping pics of the outside... we were doing between 75-80 behind the pace car. Id drop back a little ways then drop a gear and let the flowmasters sing. might have hit 90+ on the rebound. I was concentrating on not hitting any of those $40000+ cars with me on the track. My insurance is only so good! BTW, Mr. Incredible is hanging from the rear view keeping an eye on things in the 3rd pic!

90 MPH...I hope you feel violated. I'd expect at least a buck ten on a track. 90 MPH is just a little faster than the hammer lane on the freeway durring morning rush hr commute.
Still pretty awsome none the less.
