50 yr Old Truck
The reconstruction is finally finished, at least for now, everything works and it drives great. It has been a "fun" three years and most of the time was waiting for the painter. Thanks for all the help I received from the board.

The transmission is a Tremac TKO-600 and it fits our old trucks with only modifying thge driveshaft (shortning) and a clutch disc change. This is of course if you already have a 3 0r 4 speed passenger car gear box.

Alan, they are Wheel Vintique 15x7 front and 15x8 on the rear with the tri-bar knock-pff. How are you comming with your project? I haven't heard from you lately!

Re: 50 yr Old Truck
Hey, Bro'!
I'm here regularly, only I don't post unless I feel I have something worth saying ... I saw your handle and jumped in. You must be real happy -- the truck looks great! I put a new (Flaming River) steering rack in last June ... then I put new front rotors, calipers and brakes in about a month ago. The truck is running great and I sure enjoyed the AC this summer -- that new radiator, electric fan and Delco 12si alternator (all with relays, etc.) made a sweet difference compared to last summer's driving. |

Re: 50 yr Old Truck
You bet I am, this project took three years off my life!!
Most of it was waiting on the painter !!!!! I replaced all of the things that you mentioned and everything else that had a bolt a screw or it moved in some way. Now I can put another 500,000 miles on it and see what wears out first........my guess is the rear tires !!

Re: 50 yr Old Truck
Outstanding! I really just got started a few months ago and figure it'll take about 2 to 3 for mine also. Judging from what you now have...I'll hang in there.
Enjoy!!!

Re: 50 yr Old Truck
The transmission i have is Termac I don't know if the speedo is the same as the T-5. I have a set of Classic gauges and the speedo is electric which is connected to the box with a Ford cable out of the box about 12" long and then to a mechanical to electric adapter that came with the Classic set. If the adapter world have been for a Ford gear box it would have just bolted up . When I bought the set I had a B-W 4 sp. and that is how I had to clear the linkage is with a short cable 12" long.
Does the T-5 use a electric speedo or is it Mechanical?

Re: 50 yr Old Truck
Hey Solidaxel, I'm not sure still waiting on the tranny and the S-10 tailshaft to arrive.but I believe its mechanical because I was told I might have to relocate the gear on the shift shaft to make it work. The T-5 tailshaft (unless I want Bucket Seats)from a camaro is to long so I have to swap w/ a S-10.I find out in a couple of weeks.Thanx
