Dash Bezels - What fits what - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I've tried my third salvaged dash gauge bezel and discovered - "It don't fit either!" I'm guessing that there are year breaks for these.

Could someone post the years and breaks and compatability? I'm guessing it runs 73-78, 79-80, 81-87+ but, my past history is obviously wrong. I'm looking for one to fit my 1980 Scottsdale K10.

BTW, I have a, I believe, 73-78 black bezel w/AC. Only flaw is, a 1.25x .75 inch rectangle cut out where the diesel's had the glow inicator. The rest is very nice. No cracks or other cuts.

77?-78 will fit a 79-80 but you have to use the correct bottom piece on the bezel. I've ran into trouble with this as well. Also I've found that other years of bezels have a certain fit that will not fit my dash. If you look at my factory style one it was flat all the way down where the one I have now installed doesn't fit flush under the dash as it should. It is shaped just like the others but from a side view it has a L shape to it with the thicker back to it.

A 73-76 bezel will work Ok with a 81-up dash pad. If your bezel has a hole for the glow plug light, it is a 77-80 bezel. It will not have as heavy of a grain as the earlier bezels. The 84 and newer bezels are almost identical to the 81-83, but do not have the hole for the wiper switch. the 81 up bezels will not work with an earlier dash pad, but the earlier bezels work with the later dash pad.

I have noticed on e-bay that a lot of sellers put them to fit '73-'87 showing that the seller knows nothing about what the bezel he or she is selling will fit.

86swb - Yeah, that would be me. But, in my defense, I list under 73-87 to get people looking. I DO try to note the actual year of items in the description.

But, Dash bezels, I'm lost.
