Is it wider or shorter?

It is wider, but not by much. I put one under a 64 chevy truck once and it fit fine (well, after I cut off the brackets and welded the trailing arm style brackets to the housing, you'll also need a provision for the panhard bar)

HOW WIDE IS WIDER ? Thinking about a swap like this myself.

I'm thinking it was .75" each side (1.50" total) but that's been 15 years ago. You may be able to post in the later forums and get one of those guys to take a measurement for you.
