I scored a Vintage Air Unit for my poject truck this week, now I can go with the smooth firewall I wanted

It is the now discontinued Model 09000. Vintage Air still has the installation instructions on their webpage thankfully

Looks like it is intact. There should be a cover over the blower and I'll have to whip up mounting brackets, but that is all I noticed.

Has anyone installed one of these units? Anything in particular I should know?

It appears to be never used. Just stored for quite a while

Looks like the expansion valve is missing and then needs to have both lines re-wraped with press tape (to prevent condensation from dripping onto floor). I'm the Tech Advisor for Vintage Air so if you have any questions email me @ tech@vintageair.com or call me during buisness hours @ 1.800.862.6658 ext 111.

If you need the trim cover for the blower motor/lines, we should be able to get one that should fit, maybe not excatly but close (that is an older unit that isn't made anymore).

While I was looking at the diagram onlineI saw the expansion valve was missing as well as items 1-6 (thermostat, etc) seems to be missing as well, or were they not part of the original unit?

Is the expansion valve still available?

Yes, we use the same expansion valve on all of our systems, they run about $40.00 including the press tape. The expansion valve, t-stat, wiring, vacuum solinoid, heater control valve, duct hose, etc., comes with the evaporator when purchased. The adjustable thermostat is available also for about the same $ amount as the valve. Let me know what you need and I'll get you a price on everything.

How's that for customer service?!!!
May be a good idea to print out all the instructions and any other info (exploded diagrams) while you can since it is an out dated unit.
What did you pay if I may ask? I'd LOVE to have A/C, but I'm just too cheap to do it. (hey, at least I'm honest with myself)

Yep, I printed a couple of copies of the install instructions already.

My buddy and I help each other out from time to time. He will be doing the cab work on my truck

Price was, well, free. Can't beat that
