Disc brake conversion on '70 GMC 1/2 ton.
I am looking for the best/easiest/cheapest method to get discs on the front of this truck. Do parts from newer models work? If so, what parts? What parts from a 71 or 72 are "must have" items? Thanks for the help in advance!

Re: Disc brake conversion on '70 GMC 1/2 ton.
70 was the last year for drum front brakes. Any 1/2 ton front clip off a 71-87 truck will work. The crossmember is held to the frame by 14 bolts. It's a real common upgrade.

being a gmc, do you have a coil or leaf spring front end?

Re: Disc brake conversion on '70 GMC 1/2 ton.
I swapped the complete crossmember and front suspension from an 88 suburban to my 67 GMC. Only had to redrill 4 bolt holes.
