please help im workin on this right now
hey i jus got a truck and im tryin to find a hole threw the firewall from inside of the truck and i found the perfect one inside but it involves popping a rubber piece out of the outside of the firewall is there a reason everything has rubber is it a safety concern or is it for show?

The rubber plugs in the body(firewall included) were usuallythere to keep water and fumes out.They can be removed but may allow hazardous fumes into your cab.If you are removing the plug to run wires or hoses thru the hole you will want to use a grommet to keep from wearing thru the hose/wire.I would suggest you find a grommet that fits tight to the hose/wire so that water or fumes can't get in.

Sometimes you can reuse the plug. Make a small hole for your wires to pass through. CAREFULLY use a razor blade/ utility knife to cut from one side to the center hole. Slip in wires and pop plug back in. Factory looking grommet.

Also, if you ever dragrace, I know the track I race at will get you on those. They'd probably still let you run if that was the only infraction, but they don't like it much.
