Who makes drop leaf springs for 72 GMC 1500?
I plan on installing drop rear leaf springs on my 72 GMC 1500 next spring. I noticed that Stylin' Concepts sells them, does anyone else? Have any of you used a certain brand that you do or do not like? Any info on drop leaf springs would be greatly appreciated. I already have 2" drop shackles on the rear.

Early Classic has them. 4" drop for $369 plus shipping. I've used Early classic for my truck, but it has the coil rear, and their products are top notch as well as their customer service.

Oh ya, I forgot about them. I do have 1 of their catalogs. I just thought that maybe someone else has come out with them. Early Classic Enterprises seems a little expensive to me.

Re: Who makes drop leaf springs for 72 GMC 1500?
you could also do a flip kit for about 5" of drop. DJM makes them for our years of trucks. Apparently it's only for the 2 1/4" wide springs though. I don't know how much they are but there are a lot of companies that sell DJM components so you could shop around. It has to be alot less than the dropped leaves though.

Ya, I've seen those kits. I'm just not interested in cutting into the frame. I do have the 2 1/4" wide rear leaf springs. Anyone installed a flip kit on a 72 leaf spring truck? Do you absolutely have to cut the frame?

You could always put the original shackles in to bring it back up a little if it is too close to the frame.

Re: Who makes drop leaf springs for 72 GMC 1500?
I did a 6" coil drop on my truck and didn't have to cut the frame, I'm assuming that the leaf and coil trucks started out at the same height.

Would I have to remove the bed in order to install a flip kit?

No just undo the shackle end of the leaf springs, to where you can slide the axle above the leafs, put the brackets and reattach the shackles.
