triangulated 4 link help
I setting up my four link and i was wondering, can the triangulated bars be mounted on the front of the axle pointing forward (like the pinion for referance) and the lower bars mounted under the axle. will there be any down falls to this...oh and the bags will be over the axle with a bridge kit. thanks for your help
Justin

Re: triangulated 4 link help
If I understand your question you want to weld the top bar tabs to the front of the axle housing in the 9 o’clock position instead of the top 12 o’clock position.
The design of a tri bar is that the pinion wants to rotate upward under power. The bottom bracket wants to rotate forward and the top bracket wants to rotate backward. The bars and brackets in their normal locations 6 and 12 o’clock prevent that from happening. If you move the upper bar to the 9 o’clock position you create a pivot point and now reduce the ability to stop the upward rotation of the pinion. It would allow the axle to rotate upward more than normal possibly pulling the drive shaft out of the transmission. Why do you want to do it that way? What truck are you working on? |
