Gaskets for Edelbrock carb/intake?
I am going to be needing the gaskets for my edelbrock carb and intake swap on my 350, but am not sure what to get. The engine is an early 80's 350, the intake is a non-EGR edelbrock performer, and the carb is an edelbrock performer 600CFM. I need the gaskets for the sides, the one for under the distributor and the one for under the carb. I like Fel-Pro gaskets, but am not sure what set to get. Anyone have any model numbers or anything? Thanks!

Re: Gaskets for Edelbrock carb/intake?
Edelbrock now sells intake manifold gaskets designed specifically for their intake manifolds. Before they started selling gaskets, they recommended using thick gaskets made by Mr. Gasket or Felpro. They recommended against using the thin blue gaskets that Felpro makes because they aren't squishy enough for the aluminum manifold.

Re: Gaskets for Edelbrock carb/intake?
I use a Felpro #1205 with my Edelbrock intake, just throw away the cork end strips and use a nice bead of RTV, should work just fine.

Re: Gaskets for Edelbrock carb/intake?
Use the Edelbrock #9266 divided heat insulator gasket to mount your carb.
I installed one of these on Putter's and one on mine. He has a 1406 on a Performer intake and I have a 1406 on a Performer RPM. We both had problems with hot restarts, but not now.

Re: Gaskets for Edelbrock carb/intake?
So, if I order the edelbrock #9266 carb gasket and the #7201 intake gasket set, that should be all I need correct? I never use those rubber or cork front rear gaskets, as they always seem to leak. A nice thick bead of RTV seems to do as well as anything in that situation.
Winktim, is that felpro #1205 a thick gasket or thin? I've used the blue felpro thin gaskets before, but have never used the thick ones.

Re: Gaskets for Edelbrock carb/intake?
I just bought an edelbrock gasket (thick) to try under my Demon. Haven't installed yet.

Re: Gaskets for Edelbrock carb/intake?
I ended up going with the Felpro Performance Intake gasket set and a 1" phenolic carb spacer with a thin gasket on top and bottom. Haven't had a chance to put it all on yet, but it looks like quality stuff.

Re: Gaskets for Edelbrock carb/intake?
I assume pretty well any SBC gasket set will work, its just some likely work better with the way aluminum shape shifts.
