Just a question about rarity of this truck?

My dad bought a 1968 CST 1/2 ton pickup that is sitting on a 3/4 ton frame. The guy that sold it to him said it might be a rarity. We don't have any idea. It's not in too bad of shape and it runs good. The motor is not original. I believe it is a crate motor he bought from Jasper. So does anyone know how many 68 CST's were built like this? Were they all built on a 3/4 ton frame?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Rare is a relative term. There's not a whole lot of collector value on these trucks unless you have the big block a/c tilt tach fully loaded trucks or maybe a loaded 2wd blazer.

the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton frames are 99% identicle... just some added bracing on the stress points at teh rear suspention.

Longhorn, I thought the 4x4's and 3/4 ton frames were thicker, a 1/16th or so.

Re: Just a question about rarity of this truck?

Thanks so much for the input. My dad already sold the Big Block Loaded CST. Some guy from canada came down and bought it. I could be wrong but I think it was a '70. It had factory air all kinds of options...a 454 too I think. It had some rust on the body (Imagine that...Rust in Indiana), but that guy gave him quite a bit of money for it. He has another factory BB CST, I think it is a 1969. He bought 4 of them from a family after the owner died. I think he paid 2000.00 for all of them and 3 of them ran. Anyway I did not have any idea if this particular one was any rarer than the others he has. anyway I'm rambling.

Tommy, I can't speak about the 4X4 stuff, I have paid little to no attention to them.
But on the 1/2 ton frames, they are almost the exact same thing as a 3/4 ton frame.
The one ton is thicker, and taller.
