opinons on electric fans
First one 16 inch or two 12's Which do you prefer and why?
Second wired directly to come on and off with key or hooked up to a thermostat? Thanks trying to decide what type of setup to run.

Re: opinons on electric fans
Mine came with dual electrics on an adjustable thermostat and an switch to turn them on manually. They work great. I don't know the size off the top of my head.

Re: opinons on electric fans
I have a pair of 11" fans on my truck hooked to a temp sensor. They only come on if I am sitting in traffic and the temp gets up around 190`. Then as I drive, they usually cut back off as the temp drops. So they are not pulling any voltage most of the time. I love'em.

Re: opinons on electric fans
I have a couple of duel 12" fan assemblies on my trucks. 1 on a big block and 1 on a small block. Both are 4X4s. I like 2 twelves because if one fails you have the other to get you home. I also think they look cool!! I have them hooked up to a thermostat that reads the temprature of the radiator. Whay have them running full time using up electricity? No need. My kit also comes with a manual override switch in case of thermostat failure or if you need to run them with A/C. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Re: opinons on electric fans
I put a small 12" jap car fan on mine. I have the factory fan, but placed this one in front of the radator to come on with the AC, just for summer time use. I don't really need it but I had it so I used it.

Re: opinons on electric fans
Wes I like your kit does is come with everything including thermo and wiring? Also how hard would it be to wire in an led light for the dash to light when fans come on? Also it is truly bolt on no fabing? can you tell me what flex-a-lit- fans you use? or what amp drawn they have? Thanks love your setup just not sure if I can part with that kind of cash yet. got any pics of your setup installed?
Thanks

I have a single 16". It works great but would get doubles the next time. Just in case one would fail.

Re: opinons on electric fans
I run a pair of 14" fans on my longhorn.....yes, they do fit tight! they are on a homeade shroud, & run Painless controls . the fans keep my 383 cool in the summer here in Illinois, & they really dont run much unless the truck is idling in traffic...... L

Re: opinons on electric fans
I see alot of guys run two fans in case one fails. But looking at how they hook up wouldnt they both fail at the same time? Or do the fan motors themselves burn out?

Re: opinons on electric fans
only if the thermo switch failed if just the fan motor quits the other will still run. I would have to say that the fan motor would fail more often than the switch I would think. Anyone running wes's dual setup?

Re: opinons on electric fans
These work great (the twin one), fit nice and are easy to install, $238 from Summit, highly suggest the adjustable thermostat:
Flex-a-lite low-profile electric fans have the lowest profile available, yet flow up to 2,500 cfm. They have lightweight nylon shrouds with full-contact rubber seals, and some even offer several choices of shroud color. There's also an optional, adjustable thermostat and air conditioning relay, as well as a manual override switch to shut down the fan for mud racing or water crossings. A wiring diagram and installation instructions in English, Spanish, and French are included.
